Aldi’s company owned around 50 rompongs in total. The rompongs would be used in the waters of Manado. The small floating wooden hut would be anchored to the seabed using a long rope connected to the buoys. 

Every week, Aldi would consistently receive fresh supplies of food, drinking water, and fuel while a fellow employee from his company would collect the fish from the traps. For several years, Aldi’s raft had only drifted twice, and he was immediately rescued by the ship’s owner on both events.
